On November 7, 2018, North Forge South will officially launch in Morden, Manitoba.
North Forge South will support residents in the Portage-Lisgar region by providing them with access to the resources needed to succeed in entrepreneurship and innovation.
When Morden Community Development Corporation got wind of Jeff Ryzner’s vision to expand North Forge and offer support to all Manitoban’s, they were quick to jump on board. Building a resource such as this is no easy feat, it involves cooperation and collaboration from a number of offices and organizations that are committed to seeing growth within their community. “The response so far has been incredible,” says Alison Lea, Executive Director of North Forge South. “We are so lucky to have so much support behind us to make this happen and help our future innovators.”
North Forge South will assist residents of the Portage-Lisgar region in building sustainable, investor-ready companies with go-to-market and scale up plans. Members will be given access to events, training, mentorship, shared resources and a world-class fabrication lab. “By creating meaningful connections between government, industry, academia and youth, this region will unlock the unlimited potential for its communities and their economic development goals,” explains Lea. Aspiring entrepreneurs of Southern Manitoba will now have the tools they need to succeed right at their fingertips.
Following the launch of North Forge South, they will host Lunch & Learns and Startup Socials each month – similar to their Winnipeg counterpart. They aim to host Ramp Up Weekends twice a year, an event that will give individuals the opportunity to connect with other innovators within their community.
