North Forge’s FabLab continues to add to its members’ ever-growing arsenal of equipment.
Highlights of the additional equipment include three Bambu Lab 3D Printers and a new Renishaw Vacuum Cast Machine. The new Vacuum Cast Machine will allow the production of small batches of high-quality mouldings, which is exciting news for those looking to prototype a product at a low cost.
“We purchased a vacuum casting machine to give members, especially those in our AMLab Program, the ability to produce high-quality mouldings in resin that replicate the performance of engineering plastics without having the high cost associated with injection moulding,” says Marney Stapley, North Forge Vice President.
The new vacuum casting machine opens the door to those interested in prototyping medical devices such as prostheses, orthoses and others. Because of its ability to rapidly produce prototypes, engineers will be able to test and validate their ideas quickly!
The FabLab continues to be attentive to the trends in the additive manufacturing (3D printing) industry. With the new Bambu printers, members will be able to produce their designs at high speed and with exceptional resolution.
Totaling over 4 million dollars in equipment and spanning over two floors, North Forge’s FabLab is one of North America’s largest fabrication labs striving to inspire innovation with the latest technology in rapid prototyping. A full equipment list can be found on our website.
