Empowering Innovation: Minister Mike Moroz Tours North Forge FabLab™



We were delighted to host Honourable Minister Mike Moroz, Manitoba’s new Minister of Innovation and New Technology, for an exclusive tour of the North Forge FabLab™. His visit underscored a shared commitment to fostering entrepreneurship, innovation, and economic growth in Manitoba.


A Journey Through Innovation

Minister Moroz explored our state-of-the-art FabLab™, one of the largest publicly accessible fabrication labs in North America. This incredible space is where ideas transform into reality, empowering entrepreneurs, makers, and innovators to bring their visions to life.


During his visit, the Minister met several of our talented Makers and Founders, each demonstrating how North Forge’s ecosystem of support, mentorship, and technology has helped them succeed.


Meet the Entrepreneurs




➡️ Christoff Epp

Founder of Kona Wood Craft, Christoff wowed the Minister with stunning epoxy creations made in the EcoPoxy Room and Bockstael Carpentry Room. Among his work was a custom Elvish-inscribed desk crafted for North Forge Board Member Dan Blair—an exquisite example of combining artistry with innovation.


➡️ Avery-Anne Gervais

Founder of Maker Mind Toys, Avery-Anne showcased her educational wooden toys and tools, including custom Michif learning tools created for the Manitoba Métis Federation. Her work exemplifies the power of innovation to preserve and celebrate cultural heritage.


➡️ Matthew Olson

Founder of Prysm Manufacturing and one of the original FabLab™ volunteers, Matthew shared his entrepreneurial journey, highlighting how the FabLab’s advanced equipment enabled him to prototype and drive innovation in manufacturing.


➡️ Rob Ranson

Founder of Win-Shield Devices, Rob introduced his life-changing personal protective equipment and devices. He emphasized the crucial role North Forge played in supporting his journey from initial concept to market-ready product.


➡️ Kerry Stevenson

As North Forge Board Chair and founder of Fabbaloo, Kerry guided the Minister through the 3D Printing Room, offering insights into advancements in the additive manufacturing industry and how it’s reshaping the future.


➡️ Norm Silver

Co-founder of QDoc, alongside Heather Silver, Norm shared his experience in the North Forge Founder’s Program and his participation in the ElevateIP program, which has been instrumental in accelerating their entrepreneurial journey.


Building a Brighter Future

Minister Moroz’s visit reflects his commitment to supporting Manitoba’s innovation ecosystem. His leadership aligns seamlessly with North Forge’s mission to champion entrepreneurs, bolster economic growth, and position our province as a global hub for innovation.
